All the activities promoted by Free Woman are aimed at producing concrete and lasting benefits for those groups of people who are in conditions of great social insecurity.

The Association gives voice to the needs of persons and groups considered as the end beneficiaries and who often cannot intervene in social negotiation, by addressing other parties such as the public
administration, organizations representing collective interests, the entrepreneurial world, local communities or public opinion.

The potential beneficiaries of the activities promoted by the association differ depending on the type of activity undertaken.

Healthcare activities are aimed at all commercial sex workers, in whatever context, including those who have freely chosen sex work.
The services available are accessible by everyone, whatever their gender or race, and are mainly an outreach mobile service (road unit) and accompanying activities (usually to healthcare services) by appointment.

Among the activities addressed to commercial sex workers, the association promotes safe sex. Social operators and cultural mediators give useful information to safeguard the health of sex workers and, consequently, of society as a whole.

The measures of social protection are addressed to persons who have escaped exploitation/trafficking. The services offered are reserved to adult immigrants and are bound by the norms of art 18 D.Lgs 286/98.

Including a person in a social protection programme is possible when a recognized body (according to art 52 and 54, D.P.R. 394/99) such as the association Free Woman Onlus, having previously evaluated the existence of the legal requirements, prepares an individual programme of social integration.

Inclusion in social protection must be approved by the local police-headquarters, where the immigrant has to request the issue of a residence permit for humanitarian reasons. One cannot decide on one’s own that one has the right to this kind of protection and therefore access to the rescue structures of the association.

The immigrants who benefit from the measures of social protection are issued a “residence permit for humanitarian reasons” which lasts six months and is renewable (D.Lgs 286/98, art 18 c.4), which allows the person to work and study, but does not allow family reunion. Once the social protection programme has been successfully completed the police convert the residence permit for humanitarian reasons to a normal residence work permit (if the person is working at that time).
The three support structures, which are currently available to the association are organized exclusively for women. Men and transgender (people who do not identify themselves in their biological sex) can be assisted by the association if accommodated by other structures or have their own place to live in.

Those who have their own accommodation, women included, the association activates local assistance.

The association cannot accept minors who are taken into care by the local social services.
